I love Noah Cameron and have followed him for quite a while. He saw an uptick in velo before 2025 and added a cutter in 2024, but will always be limited in his ceiling by the lackluster fastball. I think it should be a cause for worry when it comes to regression. That said, his command and breaking stuff are very solid so he may be able to stick as a solid 5 even with the below-average fastball. Personally, I just think Bergert is better and will unseat him by mid-season.
I'm not convinced it's going to take until mid season. I was checking for an article I was writing and Cameron's velo is way down this spring. I'm concerned he's hurt
I think its a definite limitation and reason for possible regression. He uses his fastball as a bridge or setup to his more effective breaking/offspeed pitches. He has to be very fine in his location and sequencing with the fastball. He can't avoid using it or the other pitches aren't as effective and he can't get away with throwing the fastball down the middle.
